May is Disability Income Awareness Month
Yes, it is May again. As the economic situation remains a top concern, most wage earners have rediscovered the value of a job and the ability to earn an income. The old saying of "People at Work and Money at Work" is now under new meaning. "Money at Work" is slacking and not earning significantly. So, protect "People at Work", the ability to work and earn income from a long-term disability now. There will be additional emphasis on this need over the month from a number of sources. NOW IS THE TIME FOR ACTION:
One might think the current TRA 2010 estate/gift tax exemption that is scheduled to expire 2013 is not even at the mid-point, so there is plenty of time. It is not that simple. Many considerations involving the client, the family or business, trust documents, legal counsel need time, then add life insurance decisions and the qualification process and of course, throw in holidays, vacations, tax time, the list goes on and on.
